There has been a verbal agreement made between the PIPOA and the other parties involved to allow for the water exchange into our neighborhood canals. The wait now is just for the final written agreement so we should see water flowing soon. Read the full story on the front page of this week’s Moon.
The Grand Reopening of “The Pearl” relaxed waterfront dining and international oyster bar will be on Friday, December 15th 6 pm. It is to celebrate the rebranding from Snoopy’s Pearl Oyster Bar and new menu. They have a new courtyard bar & grill and music will be provided by Dan Herrington. They will serve elaborate buffet dishes and offer tequila tasting and signature cocktails. Tickets are $50 for this $100 value. Call 904-5760 to make reservations.
The Vince King Elvis Birthday Celebration & Vegas Mafia Band will be at the Port Aransas Community Theater on Friday, January 5th and 6th at 8 pm. This popular show sold out within a few days last year. Vince has won multiple Elvis Tribute competitions. General admission is $25 and front reserved is $35. Superior H&M Homes owner Mike Mostaghasi is selling the homes he was renting out as STRs on the Island for $809K – $739K. He also has them listed for long term rental of 30 days or longer starting at $7200/month.
The Donut Palace is closed until January 12th so the owners can spend time with their family overseas.
Christmas Party in the Park will be held on Saturday, December 16th 4 – 6 pm at Billish Park. It is sponsored by Real Life and will have a band, inflatables, cookie decorating, ornament making, games and more. The free food will be smoked chicken and sausage, potato salad and dressed beans. There will also be hot chocolate and hot cider.
Texas Sealife Center will have a sea turtle release on Sunday, December 17th 11 am in front of the Michael J. Ellis Seawall parking lot.
It’s Ice Skating Time at the American Bank Center Monday, December 18th thru Saturday the 23rd noon – 9 pm. There will be holiday characters, family photo ops and holiday refreshments. Admission is $12 with skates or $8 if you have your own skates. Late night skate features a DJ.
Gage Dental is offering a Holiday Giveaway in a drawing of names of those who leave them a Google review. The city is repairing some of the seawall steps many with rebar showing through.
The Access Road between Commodores and Jackfish will be completed no later than March 2024. The west side they are working on now will have a sidewalk.

The Holiday Home Tour and Raffle will be held Sunday, December 17th 1-4pm. Tickets are $25 which includes admission to the holiday decorated homes of Kim Erwin, May Mendoza, Kathleen Cullinan, Karen Rossi and Margie Corbett along with a chance to win a $250 visa gift card. Each home will contain a box for the collection of personal care items for Timons Ministries. Also needed are long underwear, toiletries, socks, backpacks and men’s jeans. These may be dropped off at any of the five homes during the Holiday Home Tour or by contacting Linda Schaeffer. Items can also be taken directly to Timons. Santa on the Beach will be in front of the seawall parking lot on Tuesday, December 19th 4 – 6 pm. There will be pictures with Santa, hayride on the beach, bonfire and s’mores. KW Coastal Bend asks you to bring a small fleece blanker or beanie baby sized plushie to donate to the Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission needs lightly used men’s and women’s jackets and coats. Also, hats, scarves and gloves would be appreciated. You can drop bags off at The Pelican Lounge and our Good Samaritan Islander Alice Decker will collect them daily. Our winter has set in and your donations will be greatly appreciated. She will be collecting until Sunday, December 17th. Driscoll Children’s Hospital Christmas cards and all occasion cards will be on a display at Island Market IGA and proceeds support the patients and families at the hospital. The cards are from Project Artwork that was begun in 1988 that features art from the hospital’s patients on cards, shirts and other merchandise.
